2009-10-21:

[7:08] <simono> rage ahead: colleague, philipp, wanted to use helma for lab assignm. and got that FUD back (german) http://img18.yfrog.com/i/g2z.jpg/
[7:09] <hannesw__> haha
[7:09] <simono> .. was forced to use JSF. i think they built JSF *just* to comply with the strange "quality assuring" guidelines (use interface, must be DAO, must not auto persist)
[7:09] <hannesw__> what is "selbst gebastelter singleton"?
[7:10] <simono> no idea... not one of his points is worth thinking about
[7:11] <simono> philipp will fight for helma :) we coached him for talk to prof 2morrow
[7:13] <hannesw__> is that helma 1 or helma ng?
[7:13] <simono> helma1
[7:15] <hannesw__> any mac users around?
[7:15] <hannesw__> or windows?
[7:15] <hannesw__> i need testers for my newly forked jline :)
[7:15] <hannesw__> http://github.com/hns/jline
[7:33] <hannesw__> zumbrunn: please let me know when/if you're there and have some time to spare :)
[7:54] <zumbrunn> hannesw__: ok!
[7:54] <zumbrunn> what should I do?
[7:54] <hannesw__> sure?
[7:54] <zumbrunn> build jline?
[7:54] <zumbrunn> yep :-)
[7:54] <hannesw__> yep, check out via git from http://github.com/hns/jline
[7:55] <hannesw__> mvn package
[7:55] <zumbrunn> ok, got it
[7:55] <hannesw__> and copy to helma/lib (should overwrite/replace old jar)
[7:55] <hannesw__> what behavioru with backspace/delete did you get with new snapshot?
[7:55] <zumbrunn> hmm...
[7:55] <zumbrunn> [INFO] Error to resolving surefire provider dependency: Missing:
[7:55] <zumbrunn> ----------
[7:55] <zumbrunn> 1) org.apache.maven.surefire:surefire-junit:jar:2.4.2
[7:55] <hannesw__> hm, damn
[7:55] <hannesw__> no idea what that is for
[7:56] <zumbrunn> http://helma.pastebin.com/d651869a8
[7:56] <hannesw__> does mvn compile work?
[7:57] <zumbrunn> yep
[7:57] <zumbrunn> that worked
[7:57] <zumbrunn> oh, it's my maven setup
[7:58] <zumbrunn> tries to get everything from the day repo :-)
[7:58] <hannesw__> i see
[8:02] <zumbrunn> ok, got the package built now
[8:04] <zumbrunn> it's working fine now, with that jline jar
[8:04] <hannesw__> woohoo!
[8:04] <hannesw__> that's great
[8:04] <hannesw__> both backspace _and_ delete?
[8:04] <zumbrunn> yep :-)
[8:05] <hannesw__> super
[8:05] <hannesw__> thanks a lot
[8:31] <zumbrunn> simono: hahaha... that helma fud is *really* funny
[8:31] <zumbrunn> "h?ufige Typefehler v.a. bei Vererbungshierarchien"? ...what the hell are they talking about with that one?!
[8:32] <zumbrunn> even the advantage of Helma that they see does not make any sense
[8:32] <zumbrunn> at least they claim to know something about Helma, apparently
[8:33] <zumbrunn> I guess that is already an advancement ;-)
[13:23] <botic> hi! someone here who knows a nice beginner tutorial or simple demo app for helma newbs?
[13:24] <botic> there was a simple blog-app tutorial, but the blog is now offline.
[14:25] <botic> btw. just started the 1.7rc3 to write a short introduction for our team. if i run the manage app, i get the following error when rendering the API:
[14:25] <botic> TypeError: Cannot find function getDoc in object [Application welcome]. (manage.zip/Application/functions.js#40)
[14:41] <zumbrunn> botic: the manage app in 1.7rc3 works for me
[14:41] <zumbrunn> how do you "run" it?
[14:42] <botic> manage app also runs, but not http://localhost:8080/manage/welcome/api/read
[14:42] <botic> i'm using mac os x
[14:42] <botic> maybe some troubles with my file permissions...
[14:42] <zumbrunn> ok, I have that problem as well
[14:42] <botic> okay, good to hear.
[14:44] <zumbrunn> stamped as "reproducable" ;-)
[20:29] <hannesw_> zumbrunn - in case you're still in a testing mood:
[20:30] <hannesw_> i fixed a lot of stuff in my jline fork today
[20:31] <hannesw_> in case you find some time to test it on mac os x pls let me know how it went.
[20:32] <hannesw_> in particular i fixed long/wrapped line handling - it should all be working now on unix/ansi terminals.
[20:32] <hannesw_> http://github.com/hns/jline
[20:44] <zumbrunn> hannesw_: what would be a good way to test the long/wrapped line handling?
[20:45] <zumbrunn> (got it, built it, installed it)
[20:45] <hannesw_> type a lot of stuff until the line flows over, and on until you have 3, 4, 5, 6 lines full of garbage
[20:45] <hannesw_> then use cursor keys, delete, backspace, home, end buttons...
[20:45] <hannesw_> this didn't work previously
[20:49] <zumbrunn> looking good
[20:49] <zumbrunn> I'm not noticing any problems
[20:49] <hannesw_> woooohoo!
